First and foremost, I hope you are well and are following the protocols to protect yourselves and others from COVID-19 (coronavirus). The District is developing a remote learning plan to help you continue to learn and grow with support from your teachers while schools are closed. Every student will need to have access to a computer and the internet to participate in remote learning. We distributed Chromebooks at Bartram HS on April 6 & 7. We are working with the district to establish another pickup opportunity for families that missed our first distribution days. Information about free or low-cost internet and wifi access is available for families here or by visiting www.philasd.org. Our goal is to have all students ready for remote learning by April 17th. It’s important for all students to participate in the remote learning plan. If you were on track for your current grade or graduation, you can continue your learning to stay on track. If you were having difficulty meeting your course requirements, you will have the opportunity to get back on track. And if you participated in Credit Recovery, you will have the chance to complete the requirements for credit attainment. Maintaining the safety of our students, families, staff and volunteers is our top priority, and safe Chromebook distribution processes will be supported by the Office of School Safety. Please do your part by ensuring you have the necessary tools to participate in remote learning. Take care and stay safe. I look forward to resuming learning together in the coming weeks. Counselor Mbele dmbele@philasd.org Counselor Caple acaple@philasd.org Counselor Schillaci kchillaci@philasd.org March 16, 2020 From Principal Johnson– Hello Students and Parents, I hope everyone is well during this challenging time of mandated school closure due to the COVID-19 outbreak. In the interest of staying connected to our students and assisting you in learning and retaining previous learning, I have asked your teachers if you already use Google classroom to please provide students with work, projects, or information and other learning that will support our students during this time of unprecedented school closures. Since many of our students are connected with their teachers through online learning, the opportunity is available through continued online learning that may provide access to new content. Additionally, as you may know, the District and City are providing meals and Learning Guides at various sites across the city. For our area, the location is Tilden Middle School. Meals are available from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at this location. Additionally, at this site, Learning Guides from the district are available for pick up. We are working to make these options available online. These recreation centers and gyms will be open to youth Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. One meal per child will be provided at 3 p.m. J. Finnegan Playground Kingsessing Recreation Center Francis Myers Recreation Center Cobbs Creek Recreation Center While these efforts are not required, we think they will be helpful once we transition back to school. If you have any questions, you can email me at brjohnson@philasd.org or email your teachers. Be safe and stay healthy.
